Lamination of organic material between layers of plexiglass.

Open-Front Plant Outerwear

This piece was developed out of early experimentations with the ability to laminate plantlife between layers of plexiglass. The initial test involved baby's breath and a much cheaper extruded plastic rather than proper plexiglass. The result left a foggy residue due to the chemical reaction with the Rez-n-bond which rendered the plastic gummy and unable to be lasercut, and so required a more expensive cast plexiglass to maintain transparency and rigidity. After assembling the 24"x36" sheet, it was then lasercut with the leaves already sealed inside of it and then carefully assembled in order so to maintain the pattern.
